Copyright-Free and High Quality
Students and teachers need good sources of copyright-free images. I’ve shared other sites and strategies before, but Pixabay is hands-down my favorite site for copyright-free images and video. What sets Pixabay apart is quality. The images and videos are of a quality that you would expect from paid sites like Shutterstock or Getty Images.
No Attribution Required
With more student work being shared with larger audiences online, it’s more important than ever to ensure that images are properly cited. Pixabay’s images don’t require any attribution, and you can use them freely anywhere, even on commercial sites. You can read a simplified version of Pixabay’s license here.
Enable Safe Search
You’ll need to enable Safe Search before sending students to Pixabay. They recommend teachers share a shortened URL with students that will prevent them from turning the safe search option off. An even better option is to have your IT department enforce SafeSearch on the entire network. Please take a few minutes to read about Pixabay’s Safe Search options.
