A Free Online Teleprompter for the Classroom
CuePrompter.com – The Online Teleprompter
CuePrompter is a free online teleprompter / autocue service that works in your browser. You don’t need to download any software or purchase an app, just go to CuePrompter.com to get started.
I decided to test it out by copying the Gettysburg Address from Wikipedia and pasting it into the text box on CuePrompter.
You then choose the color combination (white text on a black background, black on white, or black on yellow), the size of the prompter, and text. The prompter pops up in a new tab when you click “Start Prompter.”
You can adjust the speed, and click tools for reverse, pause, and forward at the top of the screen. You can also use keyboard shortcuts:
- space bar: start/stop
- arrow up: scroll faster
- arrow down: scroll slower / reverse
Editing your text is easy. Just close the teleprompter tab, make edits in the text box, and relaunch the teleprompter.
Teleprompters in the Classroom
This is a great tool for students when recording news programs, podcasts, or nearly any multimedia project. It’s also a great tool to help students practice reading fluency.
Don't Miss a Pick - Follow Us
This was my go-to website for projecting fluency passages. I just went on the site and was warned that my location was being tracked. Also, alternate alphabetic characters showed up in my typed text. I’m now looking for a different cuecard prompter. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
Sorry you’re having trouble with the site Laura. What browser are you using? I just tried it with Chrome and didn’t have any problems. It’s not a secure (https) site, but that shouldn’t be a problem since you’re not entering any personal information.
