A Chromebook I Can Recommend (Finally!)
With so many different Chromebooks on the market, it’s hard to know which one to buy. Few have stood out to me until recently. The Acer R13 Chromebook is in a class of its own.
Portable and Long-Lasting
In education, two elements to device success are portability and being able to get through the day on a single charge. The R13 has a long battery life (the label boasts up to 12 hours). It’s also relatively thin and lightweight. It’s slightly thinner than the older model MacBook Air, and at 3.3 pounds, it’s just a little heavier than a MacBook Air.
Great Performance
The display quality is great, and the touchscreen is very smooth and responsive. The touchpad is hands-down the best I’ve used on a Chromebook (I’ve used some that were absolute garbage). Of course, one of the best features is the ability to “bend it like you want it.” The 360 degree hinge gives you four ways to use your Chromebook (laptop, tent, stand, tablet).
A More Affordable Option
The Acer R11 Chromebook has a smaller screen, but many of the same features. With great features and a lower price tag make the R11 is becoming a popular choice for schools. I’ve heard of some districts leasing these for less than $150.
The Bottom Line
As a MacBook and iPad fan, I don’t often make recommendations for Chromebooks, but Acer has produced two that really stand out from the crowd.
I only recommend products that I personally use or know their value, so you’re in good hands. Purchasing products through some of the links above may result in me receiving a couple of bucks. It helps offset the cost of hosting this site, but it’s certainly not enough to buy a pony. I do however appreciate your support!
