What’s New with iPads in the Classroom?

What I’m Excited About from Apple’s March 2018 Special Event

Apple shared some exciting news for those of us who use iPads in the classroom at their special event at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago. You can watch the keynote at here.

Here’s a Quick Summary of What’s New:

  • New iPad – The $329 model supports the Apple Pencil.
  • Draw in Pages, Keynote and Numbers – You can now draw, annotate, doodle… within the three iWork apps. Learn more.
  • 200 GB of Free iCloud Storage for all Managed Apple IDs.
  • Book Creation in Pages – Pages now features book templates, interactive image galleries, and the ability to publish to iBooks.
  • Garage Band Gets Educated – A new sound pack of educational sounds is now available for download.
  • Clips Gets Even Better – The new improvement includes more live titles, stickers, and some education-themed poster designs.
  • Everyone Can Create Curriculum – A new way to introduce students to the creative powers built into iPad apps. A preview of the teacher and student guides are now available. The full curriculum will be available this fall.
  • Schoolwork App – Create assignments, submit work, monitor progress… all within apps you already use. Schoolwork will be available this summer.
  • Apple Classroom gets some new features and will be available for managing iPads on the Mac this summer. Learn more about what’s new with Schoolwork and Apple Classroom.
